Julia Hacker was born in a capital of Belarus, Minsk. When she was 16 years old she signed up for lessons at a local art school, it was that very day that a new part of her spirit was born, and she was transformed from a bookworm to a budding artist. Hacker continued to pursue her passion for art and went to earn a Masters degree in Fashion Design, then worked for 10 years in that field until she immigrated to Canada.
“I believe that I am very fortunate to have passion of creating and was blessed by a gift. Painting is a physical and emotional necessity for me. From a deep concern for the state of our planet to the beauty of the simple objects, there is no mundane subject matter. I strive to preserve the joyful and innocent view of the world that children have, their feeling of passion and splendor. Through the colors and textures of my work, I hope to engage the viewer and draw out a sense of wonder. My inspiration comes from within; I am still somewhat surprised by what moves my hand toward the canvas, what touches my soul and makes my heart skip a beat. Life is dynamic and so is my art. I am constantly experimenting with new techniques in order to gain experience and develop ways to improve my work. My purpose is to engage the viewer, to draw out a sense of wonder and joy through the colors and textures of my work.”
